Strong Bike Leg Propels Impressive Age-Group Finish Thomas Young turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, finishing 6th in the 1-19 Solo Male division and 209th among all male finishers out of 1,987 athletes. His swim was efficient, and he moved through both transitions in well under four minutes each, showing good race-day execution. The bike leg was the highlight, where Thomas averaged roughly 18.4 mph over the 24.4-mile course. He was especially strong mid-ride, climbing as high as 58th overall by the time he reached the 14.4-mile mark, holding paces as low as 3:013:03 min/mile on several segments. The run settled into a steady rhythm in the 9-minute mile range, capping off a race that showcased his cycling strength as a real asset heading into future events.
