Bike Surge Fuels Steady Olympic Finish Austin opened with a swim down the current-assisted Snake River before settling into a bike leg he covered at an average of roughly 15.8 mph. Midway through the ride, he found another geartwo consecutive miles clocked at a scorching 3:16 and 3:12 pacebriefly pushing him into the top 300 overall and top 25 in his 25-29 age group before the field tightened back up. After a quick T2, Austin began his run strong at a 9:09/mile clip before easing to around 10:03/mile as the final miles wore on. He crossed the line in 3:05:43, placing 618th overall out of 1,987 finishers and 47th in his division. It was a well-rounded effort overall, with that mid-bike surge standing out as the highlight of his day.
