Powerful Bike Leg Anchors a Solid Olympic-Distance Effort Kole Cooper, 17, of Cove, OR, completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:34:57, placing 802nd among men and 1073rd overall out of 1987 finishers. He began with a 29:09 swim, moved through T1 in 9:05, then hit the bike course before closing with a 1:09:31 run and a 7:58 T2. The bike was Koles strongest segment, averaging nearly 14.8 mph overall, including one standout stretch of 5.6 miles covered in just over 20 minutesbetter than 16 mph. His run pace varied between about 9:54 and 12:39 per mile before he found another gear late, closing out the final stretch at a strong sprint pace. Tightening up that run pacing could help him carry his cycling strength into an even faster finish next time out.
