Bike Power and Smart Pacing Fuel a Big Leap Up the Leaderboard Hyrum Palmer nearly mirrored his previous year's finishing time down to the minute, but this time it translated into a much stronger result climbing from 40th to 25th overall and moving up six spots in the Elite Men's division to finish 7th. It's a clear sign that his overall execution sharpened even as his total time stayed nearly identical. The bike leg was the standout, where he averaged roughly 21 mph over the rolling Snake River course, with several stretches dipping into the 2:303:00 min/mile range. A crisp 1:18 T2 kept his momentum rolling into the run, where he settled into a steady 7:007:30 min/mile rhythm to close out the race. The combination of a strong bike and consistent run pacing was the difference-maker behind his improved finish this year.
