Powerful Bike Leg Propels Steady Olympic Finish Craig Nielsen turned in a strong overall performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing in 2:46:22. He exited the Snake River in 203rd place overall, then used a powerful bike legaveraging roughly 19.2 mphto move up significantly, reaching as high as 88th overall by the back half of the ride. That surge highlighted his day, showing excellent bike fitness and strong pacing on varied terrain. The run proved to be the tougher half of the race, as Craig settled into a steady rhythm but gradually gave back positions, finishing 216th in his gender and 255th overall out of 1,987 participants. Given the strength of his bike split, a slightly more even effort split between bike and run could help him hold more of those hard-earned positions in future races. Overall, a well-rounded day anchored by an outstanding ride.
