Major Leap Forward: Nearly 23 Minutes Faster with a Big Bike Surge Holden Bayless turned in a breakthrough performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, slicing 22:24 off his previous year's finish and climbing from 1215th overall to 666th. His gender rank jumped from 880th to 534th, and he moved up nearly 30 spots in the 19-24 age group, finishing 36th. The bike leg was the standout of the day Holden averaged roughly 16.5 mph over the course, and at one point during the middle miles he was riding fast enough to sit inside the top 250 overall, a clear sign of strong sustained power on two wheels. The run and swim legs held steady paces that kept him moving efficiently toward the finish, rounding out a well-balanced day. With the bike clearly emerging as a strength, dedicating some focus to swim and run consistency could help him convert this year's gains into an even stronger overall placement next season.
