Steady Pacing Powers a Strong Olympic-Distance Finish Andrew Huish turned in a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, highlighted by a swift 20:12 swim that placed him 179th overall and 13th in his 19-24 division. He moved through T1 in just 3:38, then settled into a strong bike leg, averaging roughly 17.2 mph over the 24.4-mile course. A brief 1:44 T2 transition kept his momentum rolling into a steady 1:01:17 run, capping the race in 2:51:47 good for 341st overall and 288th among men out of 1,987 finishers. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 2:44:27, this year's time was about seven minutes slower, though field composition differed. Notably, his bike segment showed strong mid-race power, climbing into the top 5 of his division at one point (B2 split), before settling into a more moderate pace over the final miles. Similarly, his run began strong at a 9:33 pace before easing slightly in the later miles a pattern worth addressing in future training to help maintain closing speed across both disciplines.
