Age-Group Champion Powers to the Front on the Bike Gina Darrington delivered a standout performance at Spudman, capturing 1st place in the 50-59 Sprint Female division, finishing 3rd among all women and 16th overall out of 570 finishers. The bike leg was the clear highlight of her race she posted the 2nd-fastest split overall and 1st among women, averaging close to 19.4 mph over the course, a strong showing of cycling strength that put real distance between her and the field. Her swim was efficient and put her in a competitive position early, while both transitions were crisp, ranking among the best of the day. The run held up well after such a hard-charging bike leg, with steady mile splits in the 10:2011:45 range down the stretch. With bike fitness clearly a strength, dedicating some training focus to building run speed off the bike could help her convert this bike advantage into an even faster finish next time.
