Strong Bike Charge Undone by a Fading Finish Steven put together a solid swim, exiting the water in 24:53 before turning in his best segment of the day on the bike. Covering the bike leg at roughly 17.5 mph, he climbed from 823rd overall after the swim to as high as 421st overall by the midpoint of the ride a significant surge that showed real strength on two wheels. Transitions were crisp as well, with T1 and T2 both under five minutes. The run told a different story, as his pace steadily slowed over the final miles, dropping him back to 852nd overall by the finish. This continues a trend of slightly slower Spudman finishes compared to his standout 2023 performance (2:57:18). Building more durability for the run off the bike could help him convert that strong cycling fitness into a faster overall finish next time out.
