A Strong Bike Split Anchors a Steady Finish Charles Ahlstrom moved efficiently through the swim and into a bike leg that clearly stood out as the highlight of his day. His pace ranged from about 11.5 mph on the early climb to a scorching 18.4 mph on the faster stretches, averaging roughly 14.5 mph overall. That surge briefly pushed him to 4th in his 50-59 division and 80th overall his best placement of the race. A quick transition led into a run that settled into a consistent 13:0014:00 min/mile rhythm.
