Steady Pacing Powers a Strong Age-Group Showing Matthew Liddle turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, opening with a smooth swim before transitioning quickly into the bike leg. His cycling was the standout segment, averaging roughly 17.3 mph over the course, a pace that moved him into the top 100 overall at several points on the ride. T1 and T2 were both efficient, helping him carry momentum into the run without losing significant ground. The run leg showed solid consistency, with splits hovering in a tight range through the final miles and a strong closing kick near the finish. Liddle crossed the line 172nd overall out of 1,987 finishers, 147th among men, and 19th in the competitive 30-34 age group. Tightening the middle bike segments, where his pace dipped slightly compared to his early and late splits, could help him move even higher in future results.
