Strong Swim Start Paves the Way for a Steady Olympic Effort Samantha Leavitt opened her race with an excellent swim, finishing 150th among women and 22nd in her division out of the water a clear early strength. She carried that momentum onto the bike, covering the course at roughly 12.3 mph overall, with a standout surge between miles 14.4 and 19.0 where she hit a blazing 4:09/mile pace (about 14.5 mph), climbing to 17th in her division during that stretch before settling back into the pack by the bike finish. On the run, Samantha started strong with a 14:15 opening mile pace, but her pace gradually eased through the middle miles before rallying again near the finish. Tightening up that mid-run fade could help her carry more of that early speed through to the finish line in future races. Overall, a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance with a swim and bike segment worth building on.
