Steady Pacing and a Strong Bike Leg Power a Solid Olympic Finish Joshua Sponbeck put together a well-rounded Olympic-distance effort, finishing in 2:43:15 and climbing significantly on the bike leg, where he averaged roughly 17.5 mph over the course. That bike split moved him up nearly 150 spots in the overall standings, a clear sign of strong power and control on two wheels. His swim was efficient and set up a smooth transition into the bike, while his T1 and T2 times stayed tight and didnt cost him much momentum. On the run, Joshua settled into a consistent rhythm, holding paces in the 7:058:44 range per mile and even picking up the pace late, dropping to a 7:13 mile near the 31-mile mark. This late surge helped him gain over 100 positions during the run leg alone, capping off a race where his back half was clearly his strength. A slightly quicker start to the run could help him carry that closing speed even further next time.
