Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Zander Justus #5154 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Steady Swim, Strong Bike Surge Power a Solid Olympic Finish Zander opened with a clean swim through the Snake River's current, exiting in a respectable position before heading into transition. On the bike, his effort built as the ride progressed after a moderate opening ~13 mph stretch, he found his rhythm mid-course, pushing to nearly 17.4 mph through the flattest miles before settling into an overall bike speed around 15.3 mph. That surge marked the strongest stretch of his race. Both transitions ran a bit long at over seven minutes each, an area worth tightening for future races. The run started promisingly with a sub-10-minute opening mile, but the pace steadily eased over the final miles as fatigue set in. Working on maintaining run cadence deeper into the back half could help him close out future races with more consistency. Overall, a well-executed bike leg anchored a solid Olympic-distance effort.
