Consistent Cycling Strength Anchors a Well-Rounded Finish Jeff Struthers completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:02:07, placing 543rd overall and 445th among men. His swim was efficient given the current-assisted Snake River course, and his bike leg stood out as the highlight of the dayaveraging roughly 16.6 mph over the 24-mile ride, with a standout mid-ride surge (B5) reaching closer to 18 mph. Transitions were sharp, with T2 completed in just 1:29. Compared to his previous two Spudman finishes2:42:03 in 2024 and 2:44:52 in 2025this year's overall time was slower, largely due to a run leg that faded in the later miles, dropping from an 8:57 pace early on to over 11:00 by mile 30. Given his strong bike fitness, incorporating brick workouts to sustain run pace off the bike could help him close the gap between his cycling strength and run endurance in future races.
