Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Eric Boyce #6030 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Strong Swim Start Gives Way to a Grinding Bike and Run Eric Boyce opened his Olympic-distance race with a smooth, current-assisted swim, exiting the water in a solid position within his 40+ Clydesdale division. His transition into the bike was efficient, and the opening miles showed strong power, with his first split covering ground at roughly 12 mph. However, his pace gradually eased over the course of the 23-mile ride, finishing with an overall average of about 10.4 mph, suggesting some fade in the back half of the bike leg. The run proved to be the most demanding segment, with Eric settling into a steady but slower rhythm, particularly in the final miles where his splits lengthened. This late-race pattern points to an opportunity to build more run endurance and pacing consistency in training, especially in maintaining leg strength after a long bike effort. Overall, Eric completed the full Olympic distance with a balanced, community-driven effort that reflects solid swim fundamentals and a foundation to build upon for stronger overall pacing next season.
