Steady Bike Power Fuels Strong Overall Finish Despite Slower Time Zak Niemann completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 2:33:14, placing 92nd overall and 8th in the 30-34 age group his best overall finish across four Spudman appearances despite it being his slowest time to date. His bike leg stood out, covering the course at roughly 20.1 mph, highlighted by a strong middle stretch (14.4 to 22.9 miles) where his split pace touched 2:43-2:49 per mile equivalent, ranking him among the top riders in his division during that stretch. Zak's swim (20:54) and transitions (3:15 and 1:26) were efficient, keeping him well-positioned heading onto the bike. His run leg (54:58) held steady pacing in the 8:55-9:10 min/mile range, closing out a consistent performance. Compared to his previous three Spudman finishes (2:19:59 to 2:27:12), this year's time was his slowest, but his improved overall placement suggests strong competition depth rather than a decline in performance.
