Negative-Split Bike Fuels a Strong Sprint Debut Samuel Livas made his first appearance in the Sprint Triathlon at Spudman after two prior Olympic-distance finishes at the race, and the shorter format suited him well. His swim was efficient and steady, setting up a bike leg that showed real strength Samuel built speed as the ride progressed, finishing with an overall bike average near 15.7 mph and clearly picking up the pace in the back half of the course. That late surge on the bike helped him move up significantly in the overall standings by the time he reached T2. The run settled into a consistent rhythm, holding steady mile-over-mile paces in the 12:5013:40 range through the finish. Samuel finished 141st among men and 25th in his 40-49 division, capping off a well-rounded sprint debut. Given his negative-split bike performance, there's an opportunity to carry that same progressive-effort approach into the run for his next race.
