Strong Bike Surge Highlights a Steady Endurance Effort Jack Thornsberry completed the Olympic Triathlon in 3:11:19, finishing 721st overall out of 1,987 participants and 54th in the men's 25-29 division. His swim was efficient, covering the course in 22:18 and moving him into the top 25% of the field at that point (454th overall). T1 was smooth at 5:38, setting up a bike leg where he averaged roughly 16.3 mph over the ride. A standout stretch came between miles 8.8 and 14.4, where he clocked a blistering 3:15/mile pacegood enough to jump to 203rd overall, his best positional split of the day. The run told a different story, starting strong with a 10:00 pace over the first mile before gradually fading to an 11:59 pace by mile 31. This late slowdown dropped him from 516th to 721st overall by the finish. With such a strong bike leg already in the bank, dedicating some training focus to sustaining run pace in the final miles could unlock significant overall time gains in future races.
