Steady Bike Effort Powers a Consistent Olympic-Distance Finish Shelby's swim carried her out of the water in the mid-pack of her gender field, setting up a bike leg that averaged roughly 13.2 mph over its 24-plus miles. A standout stretch came during a 5.6-mile segment where she surged to nearly 15.3 mph, climbing from 1,078th to 455th overall in that section alone a clear highlight of her ride. Transitions were efficient, and she carried strong momentum into the run. The run proved more of a grind, with pacing settling into the mid-teens per mile as fatigue set in over the final 10K. She finished in 4:12:44, placing 11th in her division. Compared to her 2024 Spudman finish of 3:51:18, this year's race came in about 21 minutes slower overall, suggesting run endurance could be a focus area for future training blocks.
