Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Madeleine Cook #1029 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Steady Bike Power Fuels a Determined Olympic Finish Madeleine posted a strong bike leg, averaging roughly 12.3 mph over the 24.4-mile course, with her fastest split coming late a 4:31/mile pace segment that showed real strength as the ride progressed. This negative-split pattern on the bike, where later segments were quicker than the early miles, is a great sign of pacing discipline and power management over distance. The swim was solid at 29:15, and she carried that momentum into a bike leg that moved her up significantly in the field by the time she reached T2. The run settled into a consistent rhythm in the 11-minute/mile range for most of the second half, a steady effort after a long ride. One area worth examining is the T1 time of 16:10, notably longer than the 4:11 spent in T2 tightening up that first transition could shave meaningful time off the overall result. Compared to her 2025 Spudman finish, this year's overall time was slower, but she climbed from 37th to 22nd in the Elite Women's division, a encouraging sign of competitive progress within her category.
