Strong Bike Legs Fuel a Gritty Olympic Finish Zander Cook completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 2:50:28, placing 321st overall among 1,987 athletes. He exited the swim in 25:55, then turned in a strong bike leg, averaging nearly 19 mph for the ride. A definite highlight came in his fifth bike segment, where he covered 5.6 miles at just under 21 mph, climbing to 94th overall at that point in the race his best relative position of the day. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish, Zander's overall time slowed by about nine minutes, yet his placement improved significantly from 386th to 321st overall and from 46th to 32nd among Elite Men. His run pace eased over the closing miles, suggesting some fatigue after a hard-charging bike effort. With his cycling strength clearly established, sharpening run endurance could be a great next step to build on this year's gains.
