Bike Strength Offset by a Tough Run Stretch Abbey Malichanh capped off her fourth Spudman appearance with a 4:19:33 finish, highlighted by a bike leg that saw her climb from over 1,400th place overall to as high as 452nd at one point, cruising at close to 13.9 mph through the rolling terrain. That surge showed real strength on two wheels, even as a lengthier T1 transition slowed her early momentum coming out of the swim. The run proved more challenging, with her pace easing into the high teens per mile over the final six-plus miles, causing her to slide back through the field by the finish. Compared to her previous three Spudman outings ranging from a personal best 3:33:35 in 2025 to a 4:22:18 in 2024 this year's result sits closer to her slower efforts. Sharpening run fitness could help her convert that bike strength into a stronger overall placement next time out.
