Powerful Bike Leg Fuels a Strong Sprint Debut Julia Hampton turned in a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon, highlighted by an outstanding bike leg. Averaging roughly 17.8 mph over the bike course, she surged to the top of her 20-29 age group at multiple timing points, even briefly leading the division outright. Her swim was efficient and set her up well heading into the bike, and her transitions were crisp, especially T1, where she moved into the top 10 of her division. The run proved tougher, as her pace eased in the later miles, dropping from a strong early cadence to a more moderate rhythm by the finish. Even so, she crossed the line in 1:41:41, placing 28th among 570 women and 6th in her competitive age group. With such a dominant bike split as a foundation, sharpening the run could bring even stronger results at future Spudman races.
