Fast Swim Sets the Tone, Uneven Pacing Follows Lindsey Schmitt opened her race with a standout swim, exiting the water in the top 130 overall and top 60 among women a clear strength this season. The bike leg covered the course at roughly 12.87 mph, a steady effort that kept her within the middle of the field. T1 ran long at over 12 minutes, which cost some positions before the bike even began, while T2 was crisp at just 2:37. The run rounded out the day with a consistent, if unhurried, pace to the finish. Compared to her 2025 Spudman sprint, where she finished in 1:49:13, this year's 2:14:34 marks a step back, largely tied to the extended first transition. Still, this swim was her fastest relative performance yet at Spudman, suggesting real progress in the water. Tightening up transition times could be the clearest path to closing the gap next season.
