Steady Pacing Across All Three Disciplines Leads to Solid Sprint Finish Casey Schmitt made the jump from Spudman's Olympic distance in previous years to the Sprint category in 2026, finishing in 2:08:08. He posted a strong swim leg, covering the river swim in 21:39, and carried that momentum into a bike split of 54:02 averaging roughly 13.8 mph over the course. His transitions were efficient, with T1 in 8:46 and T2 in 6:30, keeping his overall race flow consistent. Schmitt closed out the race with a 37:13 run split, rounding out a well-balanced performance across all three legs. He placed 304th overall out of 570 participants and 35th in the 30-39 Male division. This marks a shift from his three previous Spudman appearances, all completed at the Olympic distance, giving him a fresh perspective on pacing strategy for the shorter format.
