Strong Swim Sets the Tone, But the Run Slows the Pace Tanner Maxwell turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance at this year's Spudman, anchored by a standout swim leg. His time through the water landed him inside the top 300 overall and top 30 in his age group, a clear strength to build on. The bike leg followed at a strong pace of roughly 15 mph, showing solid aerobic power over the full distance, with transitions handled efficiently on both ends. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish, Tanner's overall time slipped by about nine and a half minutes, with the run proving the biggest factor in that difference. Cracking the top 400 in his division for the swim and bike suggests he has the aerobic base to be more competitive off the bike dialing in run pacing could be the next focus to bring his overall finish time back in line with last year's result.
