A Mid-Bike Surge Powers a Determined Olympic Finish Adam Johnson turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance effort, capped by a standout stretch on the bike. After the swim and a T1 that ran a bit long, he settled into the ride and found real strength in the middle miles two segments saw him hold roughly 14 mph, noticeably faster than the 1012 mph pace he carried through the rest of the course.
