Strong Closing Run Fuels a Higher Finish Kathryn opened with a steady 19:07 swim, exiting in the top third of her field, then moved briskly through T1 in 4:29. On the bike she held close to 13.4 mph, climbing as high as 4th in her age division by mile nine before losing a bit of ground over the closing miles a stretch worth revisiting in training to help hold pace deeper into the ride. She wrapped the bike leg in 50:52. A 4:35 T2 led into a 29:30 run, where she made her biggest move of the day, climbing from 69th to 50th among women by the final mile. That surge helped her cross in 1:48:31, good for 137th overall and 54th in her gender both notable improvements over her 2024 Spudman finish of 199th overall and 101st among women, even with a nearly identical overall pace.
