Strong Bike Split Fuels a Top-10 Age Group Finish Brandon Leatherberry turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, highlighted by a bike leg that averaged roughly 19.5 mph over the 23-mile course. That split moved him into the top 100 overall at one point (85th) and set up a steady closing 10K run. Quick transitionsjust 4:47 in T1 and a snappy 2:12 in T2kept his momentum intact between legs, and he crossed the line in 2:33:59, good for 8th in the competitive 40-44 age group. Compared to his prior two Spudman starts, this was his slowest overall time (2:24:04 in 2022, 2:27:51 in 2024), yet his best age-group result climbing from 21st in 2024 to 8th this year. That contrast suggests his bike strength continues to be a major asset, and sharpening the run split could be the next step toward matching his 2022 pace while maintaining this year's stronger field position.
