Bike Surge Carries a Steady Olympic-Distance Effort Russell crossed the line in 3:07:58, finishing 659th overall out of 1,987 and 91st in the men's 35-39 division. The Snake River swim carried him into T1 in solid position, but it was the bike leg where he made his biggest moverocketing from 679th overall up to 190th during a strong middle stretch, averaging roughly 16.9 mph for the full 23-mile ride. The run settled into a steadier rhythm, holding low-11:00 mile paces through the middle miles before easing slightly in the closing stretch, with the final push showing a solid final mile pace near 9:08. Building some late-run consistency to match his bike strength could help him hold position deeper into future races, but this was a well-executed, well-paced Olympic finish overall.
