Bike Speed Fuels a Steady Olympic Finish Brooke Wheeler completed the Olympic distance in 3:34:06, finishing 268th among women and 39th in her 30-34 division out of nearly 2,000 finishers. Her bike leg stood out, averaging roughly 14 mph across 25.36 miles, with one standout stretch a 3.9-mile segment covered at nearly 15.7 mph. Transitions were efficient as well, with a snappy 3:01 T2 helping her carry momentum into the run. The run leg showed a common pattern of early-race energy giving way to fatigue, with mile splits drifting from around 11:00 to 11:43 before a strong closing kick brought the pace back near 10:35 for the final stretch. Given the bike strength on display, continued work on run durability could help her sustain that early pace deeper into the run leg for future Olympic-distance events.
