Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Spencer Baker #4009 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Steady Pacing and a Strong Bike Leg Power a Top-Tier Olympic Finish Spencer Baker turned in an impressive Olympic-distance performance at Spudman, finishing 79th overall out of 1,987 athletes and 7th in the competitive 30-34 age group. His bike leg stood out most, where he averaged roughly 19.4 mph, moving him steadily up the field throughout the ride. He exited the water in a strong position and used the bike split to further separate himself from the pack, showing well-rounded strength across each transition. On the run, Spencer showed good closing instincts, dropping his pace notably in the final mile compared to earlier in the leg. While his middle-run splits were a bit more moderate, his ability to accelerate late suggests strong aerobic conditioning. With a well-executed swim, a standout bike leg, and a strong finishing kick, this was a well-balanced race overall, and refining a bit more consistency in the middle run miles could help him move even higher in future events.
