A Tougher Day on the Course, Capped by a Strong Closing Kick Malorie completed the Olympic distance in 3:57:15, a notable step back from her three previous Spudman finishes (2:583:14 range), signaling this was an off day compared to her recent history. Her swim came in at 27:12, and she carried a bike average of roughly 13.5 mph over the course, though her bike splits swung widely cruising near 15 mph through the opening miles before dropping into the 10-11 mph range mid-ride, then rallying back above 14 mph before dismounting. The run told a similar story of uneven pacing, starting around a 16:06 mile before settling into the 13-14 minute range for several miles. However, Malorie found another gear late, dropping to a 10:56 pace with just over a half mile to go and closing with a final 4:56 pace sprint to the line. Transitions were efficient, with T1 and T2 combined under 13 minutes.
