Strong Bike Split Powers a Podium-Contending Olympic Finish Eric Newren turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, finishing 22nd overall out of 1,987 and 3rd in the Men's 40-44 division. His bike leg stood out most, averaging roughly 24.2 mph and moving him up from 90th place after T1 to 14th by the final bike splita testament to strong, consistent power throughout the ride. Transitions were sharp as well, with a swift 2:05 T1. Compared to his 2025 Spudman result (2:16:35, 44th overall, 2nd in division), Eric shaved 46 seconds off his overall time this year and climbed significantly in the general standings, even as his divisional place slipped slightly amid tougher competition. His run remained steady in the high 7:40s per mile, a solid follow-up to a hard bike effort. Overall, a consistent, well-executed race with clear bike strength as the highlight.
