Steady Effort, Slower Finish as Endurance Wanes Late Douglas Stevenson closed out the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 2:54:20, placing 388th overall and 24th in the competitive 45-49 age group. His swim was a strong point, landing him inside the top 260 overall exiting the water, and he carried that momentum into the bike, where his average speed of roughly 17 mph included an especially quick early stretch that ranked him 6th in his division at one point. Compared to his previous three Spudman finishes2:31:18 in 2022, 2:40:25 in 2023, and 2:41:07 in 2025this year's result marks a step back in overall time. The run split tells much of that story, with his pace steadily climbing from under 9:00/mile early on to over 11:00/mile by the final miles. Shoring up run endurance late in the race could be a key focus for returning to his earlier Spudman form.
