Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Ben Tanner #7209 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

A Solid Effort With Room to Rebuild Bike Speed Ben Tanner turned in a strong swim leg at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing in the top third of the field exiting the water and holding that momentum into the bike. His cycling pace averaged roughly 15.2 mph, a solid, steady effort though a step down from the pace needed to match his previous performance on this course. Transitions were an area to tighten up, with T1 and T2 combined eating over 25 minutes, dropping him significantly in the standings before the run. On the run, Ben found consistency, holding a steady rhythm across the final miles and closing strong with a sub-4:30 pace over the last tenth of a mile. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 3:00:50, this year's 3:32:40 marks a notable time increase, largely from the bike and transition segments. With his swim strength intact, tightening transition efficiency and rebuilding bike speed could bring him back toward his previous form.
