Strong Early Bike Surge Powers a Determined Olympic Finish Nathan opened with a steady swim before showing real strength on the bike, holding as high as 4th in his age division during the opening miles with segment paces near 4:00/mile translating to speeds approaching 17 mph. That early surge pushed him into the top 100 overall through the bike's midpoint, though his pace eased over the back half of the ride, settling into an overall bike average of nearly 16.9 mph. The run started at a manageable pace but gradually slowed through the closing miles, dropping him from a top-500 position into the 700s overall by the finish. He crossed the line in 3:12:22, placing 44th in a stacked 45-49 age group and 589th among 1,987 finishers. His early bike splits were the clear highlight of the day a strength worth leveraging with more even pacing across the full race distance.
