Steady Pacing and a Strong Bike Leg Power a Solid Olympic Finish Joel Goodman turned in a well-balanced performance, finishing in 2:53:31 and climbing significantly in the standings as the race progressed. After exiting the water in 587th place overall, he made steady gains through the bike course, riding a strong split that averaged nearly 15.8 mph and moved him up to 556th by the final bike checkpoint. That bike effort proved to be the highlight of his day, showing solid, consistent power output over the full distance. The run leg was equally impressive, with Goodman holding a pace in the low 7:30s per mile for much of the course and even dipping into the high 6-minute range in the final stretch. This surge helped him finish 374th overall out of 1,987 participants and 36th in his 40-44 age division. His ability to negotiate a strong bike-to-run transition and maintain composure through T2 in under four minutes reflects sound race execution from start to finish.
