Bike Surge Turns a Solid Swim Into a Top-Third Move Michael Ford turned in a well-paced Olympic-distance effort, exiting the swim in the middle of the field before making a significant climb on the bike. He pushed from roughly 1,000th overall after the swim into the top 300 by the midpoint of the ride, riding at an efficient average of about 16.3 mph over the course. That strength on two wheels set up a strong platform heading into the run. The back half saw him settle into a steady rhythm, holding position through the run to finish 22nd in the men's 55-59 division and 728th among all men. His overall time of 3:24:17 reflects a well-rounded race, with the bike leg standing out as his clear strength. Tightening the run pace slightly could help him convert that bike advantage into an even stronger overall finish next time.
