Powerful Bike Leg Anchors a Well-Rounded Olympic Finish JW completed the Olympic-distance course in 3:01:24, finishing 527th overall out of 1,987 and 33rd in the male 25-29 division. The swim was efficient at 24:25, transitioning smoothly into a bike leg that proved to be the standout segment of the day. Averaging roughly 17 mph over the 24-plus mile ride, JW found another gear mid-course, ripping a 5.6-mile stretch at nearly 20 mphgood enough for 14th in his division on that split alone. The run settled into a steady rhythm, opening with an 8:54 first mile before leveling into an 11:30/mile pace over the next stretch. That early speed shows real leg strength off the bike; working on sustaining that opening pace deeper into the run could translate the bike's momentum into an even stronger overall run split next time out.
