A Powerful Bike Surge Fuels a Determined Finish DJ Loertscher turned in a well-paced swim before settling into transition, then found his rhythm on the bike leg. His mid-ride segment stood out in particularcovering over 16 miles at a blistering pace equivalent to nearly 18.7 mph, a stretch that vaulted him into the top 40 of his age division at that point in the race. That surge was clearly the highlight of his day, showcasing strong bike fitness and the ability to push watts over sustained distance. Coming off the bike, DJ settled into the run with a solid opening mile before the pace gradually eased over the following miles. A quicker transition through T1 could help shave a little time off the overall clock, and building more consistency in the back half of the run would help him carry that bike momentum all the way to the finish. Overall, DJ crossed the line in 3:31:03, placing 80th in the competitive 40-44 age groupa race built on a genuinely strong cycling effort.
