Steady Swim, Strong Bike Surge, Consistent Run Trevor Fugate turned in a well-balanced Olympic-distance performance, starting with a smooth swim before settling into a bike leg that averaged nearly 16 mph. His cycling really shined during the B5 segment, where he clicked off a blazing 3:22/mile paceby far his fastest stretch of the day and a segment that vaulted him into the top 350 overall at that point in the race. The run proved more of a grind, holding in the 9:4712:09/mile range as fatigue set in, though he closed strong with a final push before the finish. Transitions were efficient, with T2 taking under 4.5 minutes. Looking ahead, tightening the run pacingparticularly maintaining momentum through the middle milescould help him convert his excellent bike strength into an even stronger overall finish.
