A Building Bike Leg Powers a Strong Finish Kade completed the Olympic-distance race in 2:57:07, finishing 436th overall out of 1,987 finishers and 52nd in the men's 30-34 division. After a 27:34 swim and quick transitions (3:21 and 1:19), his bike leg stood out for its pacing: he rode roughly 14.6 mph over the early miles before climbing to nearly 19 mph through the back half of the course, a strong negative split that showed increasing rhythm and confidence as the ride went on. Off the bike, Kade opened the run at an 8:53/mile pace before easing slightly through the middle miles, completing the run in 59:58. He capped things off with a sharp final kick, dropping to a 4:16/mile pace over the last tenth of a mile into the finish. Racing in his hometown of Burley added a nice personal touch to a well-paced day.
