Fast Swim Start Fuels a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Tyler Muir opened his 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon with a standout swim, exiting the water 57th overall out of 1,987 finishers and 6th in his 19-24 age division a strong statement leg that set up the rest of his race. He carried that momentum onto the bike, holding a steady pace of roughly 15.2 mph across the course, before settling into a run that started at a solid 10:03 min/mile pace over the first mile. As the run progressed, Tyler's pace gradually eased, moving from that opening 10:03 mile split to the 12:29-13:23 min/mile range over the closing miles, finishing in 3:17:32 with an overall placement of 835th and 44th in his division. The early swim strength was the highlight of the day, and building run endurance to sustain that early pace could be a good focus for future Olympic-distance races.
