Podium-Worthy Bike Split Powers Runner-Up Finish Ida Bennion turned in an outstanding performance at this year's Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing 9th overall out of 570 participants, 2nd among all women, and claiming the top spot in the 40-49 age group. Her bike leg was the standout segment, covering roughly 12.45 miles at an average speed of 18.5 mph, moving her from 148th place after the swim into the top 25 overall by T2. A lightning-fast 53-second T2 transition the best in her division kept that momentum rolling into the run. On the run, Bennion negative-split her way to the finish, closing with a strong final mile near 7:00 pace after starting closer to 8:00 pace, ultimately clocking a 7:21/mile average over the 3.11-mile course. This steady build ensured she held her position and sealed the division win. With a swim, bike, and run all trending in the right direction, this race represents a well-rounded, strategically executed effort.
