Fast Start Fuels a Steady Olympic-Distance Finish Gentry Whittle opened her race with a strong current-aided swim, exiting the water in the top third of her age group before transitioning quickly into the bike leg. Her early bike splits were especially impressiveshe moved into the top 10 of her division through the first several miles, holding an average speed near 16.1 mph for the full 24-plus mile ride. The run proved more challenging as the pace gradually eased across the 6.2-mile course, with per-mile splits climbing from the 10-minute range early on toward the 11-minute mark by the finish. Whittle crossed the line in 3:08:04, placing 24th in her 35-39 division. Her results show a clear strength in the bike leg, and building endurance for a more even run pace could be a great focus for future training blocks.
