A Blistering Run Surge Highlights a Steady Olympic Finish Joe Malmgren completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:11:48, finishing 729th overall out of 1,987 athletes and 46th in the Non-Competitive division. On the bike, Joe averaged roughly 16 mph over the 24-mile course, showing solid, consistent power throughout the ride. This result comes in slower than his 2023 Spudman finish of 2:40:06, suggesting this may not have been his strongest day across all three disciplines. Still, Joe's run leg included a standout stretch during the third running split, he surged to 7th overall and 5th among men, a brief but impressive push amid the back half of the race. Building on that late-race intensity earlier in the run could help him close out future races with more consistent energy from start to finish.
