Steady Effort Marked by a Strong Bike Leg Bretton Wall completed the Olympic-distance course in 4:13:52, finishing in the Non-Competitive division. He came out of the Snake River swim in 26:35, moving efficiently through the current before a smooth transition into the bike leg. On two wheels, Bretton averaged just under 12.7 mph over the 24.5-mile ride, holding a strong, consistent effort that carried him into T2 in good position within his division. The run proved to be the more demanding leg of the day, with his pace gradually settling into the mid-to-high teens per mile as fatigue set in over the final miles. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish, this year's race reflects a shift toward a more measured, sustainable pace throughout particularly on the bike, where his split time was a clear highlight. Building some run-specific endurance work could help him close the gap between his bike and run performances in future races.
