Steady Bike Power Meets a Fading Finish Ethan opened his Olympic-distance day with a 31:37 swim before a lengthy 11:18 T1. Once on the bike, he found his rhythm, averaging roughly 15.8 mph over the 24-mile course and hitting a strong stretch near mile 1420 at nearly 17 mph. A snappy 3:31 T2 kept momentum going into the run, though the pace cooled noticeably late, dropping to about 15:05/mile in the final miles. Compared to his 2024 Spudman (3:46:22), Ethans 2026 time of 3:49:33 was slightly slower, yet he actually placed higher overall (1230th vs. 1436th) and climbed in the Elite Men division (81st vs. 97th) a sign of a tougher field this year. Tightening transition time and building late-run strength could sharpen his next result.
